To say that the fishing has been "Off" at Skiatook recently would be a huge understatement. I have had to reschedule some trips that were scheduled in August bbecause the fish were so elusive and finiky. I finally got a chance to go on a scouting trip this Tuesday to see if things have improved. I'm very glad to report that the "Bite" is back on. I caught several good sized Hybrids in different areas. They were in very good body condition and were biting very agressively. The fall pattern has started. This agressive bite is caused by shorter days and cooling water temperatures. That combination causes the fish to be more active because, they sense that winter is coming on, and they gorge themselves to put on body mass for the colder months when food won't be as plentiful. I was by myself so it was hard to get a photo but here is one I managed to capture.
