• Sooner in June

Sun, Jun 18, 2006  We slipped the boat off the trailer at Sooner after the storms blew through early Saturday morning. It was a special day for me because I had three generations of the Linn family on board for a Fathers Day weekend outing. The grandfather had driven up from Dallas, son, grandson and granddaughter, live near Mounds. We had a great day on the water but the catching was tough. I ended up cleaning 10 Hybrids and the fish fry for Sunday was saved by a 16 pound Flathead. Lots of you have seen my Hybrid gear, I use light spinning tackle, and of course, that Flathead hit the lightest rod on board. Robert Linn did an excellent job keeping tension on the fish and the Shimano drag worked flawlessly. That rod got a reel workout and we finally netted the fish. I'm off on Sunday for some boat maintenance, but the bite up on Sooner is great this year.
