Had a trip up to Skiatook Friday afternoon, it was a father and son outing since it was Nate's 8th birthday trip. We had an excellent time it was pretty slow at first but we found some fish and Nate caught his biggest Hybrid ever. Well it was also his first Hybrid ever. I wish all of you could have seen how excited he was when he saw how big that fish was. We were on a pretty good school of fish and they pretty much stayed put for us until an intruder showed up. The rod went down like a Hybrid and Nate grabbed it out of the rod holder, he's yelling "it's a keeper". He's doing a pretty good job on this brute but the fish won out over him. Nate convinced me to help out and take the rod, he said he just couldn't reel any more. I took over to try and finish the fight and he stood by me looking down to try and see what was on the hook. A few minutes later a 15 pound flathead comes into view, I've got to say that Nate was pretty surprised at the size of this big ole catfish. Nate grabs the net and we both had to lift him in the boat. This had to be one of the best trips of the year for me. It was hot and I was tired but he really kept us entertained all afternoon. Good job Nate, happy birthday.
