• CB/Skiatook

Tue, Jul 31, 2007 I left work Monday morning at 10 AM to go catch fresh shad at the Port for a scheduled 2 PM start time at Carl Blackwell. My clients arrived right on time and we shoved off for an afternoon on the lake. We commented on how bad the weatherman had missed the forecast again. CB is one of those lakes where it is either real good fishing or really slow. At 4:30 we had one fish in the boat and storm clouds building and heading our way. After the second big bolt of lightning we called it a day and headed towards the ramp. When we got out of the water I suggested that since we still had bait and we were all heading back towards Tulsa, we might want to try Skiatook for awhile. Everyone agreed that if the weather lightned up towards T town to give it a try for an hour or so. We arrived at about 6:30 and got after it. By 7:30 we had our limit and were still catching a lot of fish as I was getting those fish cleaned. We probably caught close to 30 fish before I was done. The fish were a bit smaller than on recent trips but there were lots of them. We had doubles and triples on at several times. It was a long day but sometimes you have to pull out all the stops to give the clients a good trip.
