I met a pair of avid anglers at TCC on Friday afternoon. The cows were standing up when I drove through Sperry so I was pretty pumped about getting to fish my favorite lake. We were greeted by 20-30 kt. winds, 3 ft. swells, and low 40 degree temps. I could just barely get my boat off the trailer it was blowing so hard. We went over to the ski pond and dragged some shad around over several schools of suspended fish but no takers there. We decided to take the long ride over to Skiatook point and got there relatively dry thanks to superior boat handling skills and the design of my Predator Boat. We fished down lines deep, planer boards at mid depths, and freelines fished shallow. There were fish in the area but they did not seem interested in our offerings. I fish all winter long in rain and snow or whatever and I'm completely geared up for any weather conditions. Most people really don't understand how cold you can get out on the water with in conditions like we were in yesterday. My clients really wanted to go get after it when they first got there, but after two hours without a bite they decided to go in and try it another day. While I was bringing in the baits and making preparations for the run back to Tall Chief he mentioned how he liked the "T" top I have on my boat. I was telling him how he would really appreciate the shade it provides in July. We both thought about that for a second and started laughing while we were standing there shivering and getting ready to go in because it was so cold. I guess the final point here is that we had a nice afternoon visiting, but we did't have any fish to clean. I can't wait to go again
