I had the pleasure of hosting six Airmen from Vance AFB in Enid today. We met at sunrise on Sooner to start our trip and it was a beautiful morning. We had high hopes of catching lots of Hybrids. The day quickly warmed and we had to accept that the fish were not going to cooperate on this trip. We looked hard at about 10 spots and there were fish everywhere. I tried every conceivable presentation of live and cut Shad as well as slab spoons with the same result. I was very proud to be among six of America's...

The trip to Skiatook today was very challenging. We looked at several locations and found fish at most. They were just not in a mood to eat on this morning trip. It seems that afternoon trips are producing the most fish at Skiatook and Sooner. My clients had family in town from out of the Country so we still had an enjoyable day on the lake. It was everyones first time at Skiatook.

I met my clients at 2 PM today for an afternoon outing on Skiatook. The day started off pretty slow but we eventually located some willing fish around 5 PM. We caught 6 Blue Cats, 2 channel Cats, 1 Flathead Cat, 2 Smallmouth Bass, 6 Largemouth Bass, and 1 Drum. Most of these came on live bait or cut Shad. It was a fun afternoon with some GREAT CLIENTS!!

This trip on Friday was a much better result. I got fresh bait that morning and made the drive over to Sooner to meet my clients at 2 PM. We headed out to the first spot and found a large school of Hybrids. They were VERY agressive and we had on triples a couple of times before those fish moved on. We pulled our baits and moved about 100 ft. down the dropoff and found them again with the same result. It was hard to stay on the fish for very long because they were moving so much. The wind...

I had a short 3 hour trip to Skiatook Lake this afternoon. We trolled some to try and locate fish. That didn't work too well so we looked at some points at about 20 ft. deep with Shad, and located some active fish. No pics today.

This trip to Sooner was very slow as far as catching Hybrids was concerned. The guys fishing the lake that afternoon had a much better day. We need to be going out at about 2 PM and fish until 8 PM.

I had another morning trip to Skiatook on Friday. The bite was very slow. Looks like I need to shift to afternoon trips. I've been getting good reports from the guides going out in the PM.

I had 5 new clients today and it was "BIG FISH" day for sure. We shoved off at 6 AM and the bite was on in less than 5 minutes. The first "Bully" tangled up three lines and the marker bouy. What a start. I got all that mess cleared out of the way and we went right into round 2. It was on for about 2 hours before we decided to move. We ended the day with only 8 Hybrids but they were all over 22 inches. What a great day to be on the water!! Click "read more" to...

It was definitely an early morning bite this morning. For the first two hours we could not keep 4 rods baited, the action was so fast. I had three clients today and we caught a three man limit but could only clean 8 fish since so many were over the 20 inch limit. It was absolutely perfect weather for a morning on the lake. We cleaned our fish and got off the lake before it got too crazy. Click read more to see the pics from today.

I got a chance to go fishing this morning, my wife sent me to the lake to catch some fish for a fish fry we're having Monday. I met my good friend Brian Barber and his daughter early this morning at Skiatook Point. We shoved off and got on some good sized Hybrids right away. We caught a few and moved on to scout out some other areas. I got my mission completed and we got off the lake just as the rain started. Click read more to see the pics.

I met 5 new clients at the Skiatook Point Ramp this morning at 0700. We headed out and it took a few stops to find the active feeders. Once there we caught a 5 man limit of Hybrids but I could not keep all of them. I ended up cleaning 15 and we had to turn a bunch loose because we couldn't catch any under 20 inches. They still had enough for the family get together they had planned for tonight. Those Hybrid fillets will be great!!
