What does a fishing guide do on his day off? Go fishing of course. I wasn't booked any over the Memorial Day weekend and I wanted some fresh fish for dinner on Sunday. I got up early today and got to Skiatook early enough to beat the holiday crowds to the lake. I checked out three spots and caught fish at each of them. I caught 15 Hybrids and about that many Sandies before 9 AM. I kept 5 of the Hybrids to bring home. I made a big bowl of Ceveche for lunch and fried some up for dinner....

It took a little longer to find active feeding fish on Monday but, when we found them the bite was on. I had five clients out on this trip and we had a great day on the water. It was definitely better than a day at work!! We caught a five person limit of Hybrids in about 30 ft. of water along with several Sandies and Blues. We caught fish on live bait and cut bait as well. The excellent weather and fishing continues on Skiatook. Call me or Email me to book your trip. Click "read more" to see...

After being down for boat motor and trailer repairs I returned to Skiatook today with clients and the bite was on. The Hybrid fishing continues to improve. There were at least five guides up there today and everyone was carching fish. We got on fish immediately this morning at our first stop and it continued until we stopped at noon. I forgot the camera today so I don't have any pics, but I cleaned 25 Hybrids and 10 Sand Bass.

The fantastic fishing continues at Skiatook Lake this morning. It was foggy, cool, and calm this morning when we arrived at the lake. I fished with my brother today, we were sent to the lake to get some Hybrids for a family fish fry later this afternoon. We needed 5 fish for a fish fry and that took about 5 minutes. We caught 20 more Hybrids over the course of the next two hours. I got the fish cleaned and we scooted back to Bixby. It was an excellent morning of catching and an even better afternoon visiting my Niece...

Today was the May "Party Boat" Trip. We had 5 anglers today and it was an awesome day of catching. We ended up cleaning 27 good sized Hybrids and releasing at least 30 more. It was impossible to keep track of the number of fish we had. It was doubles and triples for over 2 1/2 hours early this morning. They were all in the same spot. The fishing at Skiatook was a bit slower today. The fish moved from where they had been the past few days. We looked at some new spots and never really found very many active feeders. This unsettled weather pattern seemed to have them scattered today. We did manage six really good sized Hybrids, about ten Sand Bass and one Channel Cat. We'll try it again on Saturday. The weather today was a huge change from the storms that rolled through Oklahoma last night. It was cool with very little wind. My party today was a father and four sons. They've fished with me on several occasions and it's always great to see them each year. The fishing started off a bit slow at our first stop. We caught 4 Hybrids there before moving on. We went to another spot and got anchored up in 4 ft. of water and it was "GAME ON". We caught a five person limit of Hybrids in about 2 hours. The water temp...

Another great day on Skiatook. We got going at 7 AM this morning and the fish were in deep water again. We found them in 28 ft. and pretty much had our limit by 9 AM. We moved around a bit more today and were looking for some Smallmouth too. We found some more Hybrids, Kentucky, and Largemouth but the Smallies evades us. I had three generations of the Stidham family in the boat today. We found active fish at our first stop and had fish on before we got all of our lines baited. We started at 7 AM and by 9 AM we had a four person limit of Hybrids in the box. It slowed down some after 9 and was pretty much over by 10 AM. We looked at several other spots but never really got on fish like it was earlier in the day. Of course the youngest and cutest member of our party caught the most and biggest...

The last three trips up to Skiatook Lake have been fantastic. The trip today topped them all. We left the ramp at 7 AM and proceeded to our first spot. The fish were there and they were very willing to accept our offerings. At one point we had five on at once. We stayed there for about an hour and the bite slowed down a bit. We moved about a mile but the fish there would not bite. Our next location was where we really cleaned up. For almost three hours it was constant fish on. We caught and released...

I had some guys down from Missouri today. We got to Skiatook early and quickly found some active feeders. It was beautiful up there today as you can see from the pictures. We had a problem getting our limit today since we only had five under 20 inches. We cleaned 11, missed 12 and released another 11 since they were too big. I guess that's a positive problem though.Click "read more" to see the pics.

I had the Kunkel family out on Skiatook Saturday. We had an awesome time and caught some very nice fish. May is definitely big fish month on Skiatook. It was a trip for Mom's birthday and of course she caught the most and the biggest fish.

Hybrid fishing doesn't get much better than the trip today. Out of the 30 or so Hybrids we caught today only 2 were under 20 inches. I fished with my brother today and it was the best trip ever for him on Skiatook Lake.
