This was my first trip to Sooner in a while. We started fishing at 9 AM for a half day trip. The first spot was holding quite a few fish but we couldn't get them to bite. So with such a short time to fish I started to try and find some more fish. We worked our way down to the dam and found some in the very clear water by the inlet canal levee. The boat has been out of service for unscheduled maintenance since 6/19/2009. We finally got back out to Skiatook on Wednesday. It was hot that morning with not much breeze to cool it down. The fishing was a bit slow compared to other recent trips. I cleaned 7 Hybrids and we had a couple of Sandies as well. It's looking like the afternoon bite is more active than mornings. The surface water temp. got up to 90 degrees today.

The trip on Friday afternoon was the June "Party Boat" charter. We met at 4 PM for a three hour trip. It was really fun introducing these new friends to each other and we had a great afternoon on the water. We found a good school of active feeders and everyone caught fish today. The July trip is scheduled for the 18th. Call me or Email to get your name on the list. This will be a 6 hr. trip.

The morning trip was a three boat charter at skiatook. All three boats caught fish. My boat started out a bit slow but we ended the day on a good school of active fish. We had a total of 14 anglers today and everybody caught fish.

Today started off a little slow, it took a whaile to locate some active fish. When we did find them it was Fishon for over two hours on the same spot. Great day with some great clients.

"Sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug". Today we were the bug. There are no fish pictures because we did not catch any Hybrids today. We marked fish every where we went today and we went to lots of spots looking for active fish. There were no takers today. We'll try again tomorrow.

WOW, Monday was even better than Sunday. I totally lost count of the number of Hybrids we caught. I would guess we caught over 20 in the last hour of the trip. We only kept the gut hooked fish today and I cleaned 12.

The trip today was one of the best days recently on Skiatook. I cleaned a four person limit and we had a blast all day long. we probably released 20 other Hybrids as well.

Terrible weather day, a major storm hit at about 9:30 and we barely got off the lake in time to miss it. We called it a day with just 4 Hybrids. We only got to fish for three hours. No pictures today.

My clients wanted to learn the summer patterns at Sooner. We fished in the discharge and marked a lot of fish. We moved over to the main lake and showed them how to use the GPS and SONAR to locate humps and fish.

Pretty slow day on Sooner for this time of year. Had clients from Kansas and we only caught a few average sized Hybrids. No pictures today. Fished the warm side and by the intake canal.

I was booked for a 3 hr. trip today and we never really found any active fish. We looked in six places and there were fish in all of them but I could not get a bite. We ended up with only one Hybrid in the boat at the end of the trip.

The Hybrid fishing continues to be red hot at Skiatook. I had a client today who needed some fillets for a "Father's Day" fish fry and family reunion. We got that handled pretty quick. We caught fish everywhere we went today.

I wanted to post this picture of what the sonar screen look like when we are over active fish. I took this picture one day last week. If you are on board the "Weekend Duty" boat and you see something that looks like this, you need to head towards your rod because you are getting ready to "get bit".

Sunday afternoon was a fish fest. We only fished in two spots and it was fish on constantly. They were good sized fish too. I totally lost count of the number of Hybrids we caught .

Sunday morning was fun with some repeat clients and a couple of youngsters. I always enjoy those trips with kids the most. Lots of fish caught and lots of memories created!!

Saturday was the "Party Boat" trip for May. We had four great guys for this trip and we had a blast. There was quite a bit of boat traffic of course but it did not slow down the bite very much. It was a good trip and the June trip is scheduled. See the "Party Boat" page for details.

Friday I had clients from the Striper Club and we moved around quite a bit to show these guys different spots and techniques to locate hybrids at Skiatook. We did end up with some fish but I did not have my camera today. Sorry no pics.
