I left work Monday morning at 10 AM to go catch fresh shad at the Port for a scheduled 2 PM start time at Carl Blackwell. My clients arrived right on time and we shoved off for an afternoon on the lake. We commented on how bad the weatherman had missed the forecast again. CB is one of those lakes where it is either real good fishing or really slow. At 4:30 we had one fish in the boat and storm clouds building and heading our way. After the second big bolt of lightning we called it a day and...

Friday afternoon started off with a bang. We got to the lake and met 5 clients who were ready for a nice afternoon on the lake. The action was fast and furious for the first 4 hours with constant fish on. There were several times that we had 4 fish on at once. By 6 PM we had burned through 150 baits. A great trip by any measure.

I went up to Carl Blackwell on Saturday to scout out the conditions after the high water had subsided a bit. The fishing was great and the catching was even better. We caught close to 40 big Hybrids with the biggest at 9 pounds 13 ounces. Carl Blackwell or Sooner will be the place to be for the rest of the summer.

This afternoon started off a bit slow but ended with a bang. I got a tip from Mike Kelley when he got on some fish and we were on them for a few hours. It was an awesome bite with most fish at least five pounds, biggest was 8.5. I have no idea how many we caught. We kept 10 and released the rest Thanks Mike.

Well it was a good news/bad news day at Skiatook. the big fish bite was definitely on this afternoon. We had three fish over 10 pounds. I had an 11lb 7oz fish in my hand trying to revive it and was netting another 10 pounder at the same time. It doesn't get any better than that. Awesome except the big fish didn't make it. All the really big ones were released to fight again. We kept 10 for a family fish fry. I forgot to take my camera but my clients got some digital pics of the big fish and...

Skiatook was hot after the storms Wednesday afternoon. It didn't take long to find active fish and we stayed with them for most of the trip. I had four anglers and we cleaned a limit of fish and caught several others. Most of the over 20 inch fish were released to fight again. We had one at 8 lbs. and six over five pounds. Great day to be on the water.

Monday afternoon was great after the storm passed. We got to the lake right after it stopped raining. It seemed like the Hybrids were everywhere. It took a little while to find active fish but when we did it was steady action. I lost track of the number of fish we caught since we were releasing all of them. I would guess we had about 30 to the boat and several more near misses.

We hit Sooner at 1 PM yesterdy and started the hunt for Hybrids. It didn't take long to find fish but it took a while to find active fish. After a couple of hours of run and gun we found some willing and hungry 'Brids. We sacked em up for the remaining afternoon. We were glad we did't go to Skiatook as we watched those storm clouds building to the east. It was a beautiful and dry afternoon over on Sooner.

I had a husband and wife trip Friday afternoon. We got into some good sizes 'Brids. I lost track of the numbers of big fish. Most were well over 20 inches. All of these fish were released to fight again. Outstanding trip with some great folks.

I had some repeat clients yesterday afternoon for a trip to Skiatook. The weather was bad all around us but we never got wet all afternoon. It was nice with a cool breeze. The fishing was good all afternoon. We had a steady bite going most of the time but it was never really a feeding frenzy. We cleaned a few fish for a fish fry and released all the others.
