  • Friday Skiatook Report

Fri, May 26, 2006  I had a morning trip with some regular clients and their sons and daughters today. We had four 10 year old fishermen and fisherwomen in the boat today. We caught a bunch of Hybrids and a few Sandies. I really enjoyed watching and helping these young men and ladies hook up. We caught some nice fish, had a swim and they chipped in on the fish cleaning chores. I don't think I've ever had so much help cleaning fish. Great trip, going out tomorrow. No Comments
  • Weekend at Skiatook

Sun, May 21, 2006  Well the summer boating season is in full swing at Skiatook. All the jet skis and pleasure boaters did not seem to bother the fishing too much. I fished with clients both days and we caught some very nice Hybrids. We cleaned limits of fish and the clients were very impressed with the quality of the fish as well as how hard they pull. I'm looking forward to a couple of days rest. read more No Comments

  • Thursday At Skiatook

Thu, May 18, 2006 The day started off slow and we left them biting at 5:30 PM. Dave Clark and I had a two boat trip with all out of town clients. We had three anglers each in the boat. We ended up with a total of 64 Sandies and Hybrids. Four of the Hybrids went over six pounds. Most were four and five pounders. It was a perfect weather day with lots of sun and very little wind. I've got Friday off but we're back up to Skiatook on Saturday and Sunday. read more No Comments
  • Morning Bite at Skiatook

Wed, May 17, 2006 The morning bite has been hot. the 'Brids have spawned out but they are still fat and sassy. The fish have been very good sized for the past three weeks. Today we didn't get any below four pounds. The big fish for today was a seven pounder. We got him on one of the light rods and it was a fifteen minute battle to get him landed. Water temp is 67 and the fish are very active. No Comments
  • Sunday at Skiatook

Sun, May 07, 2006 My brother and a friend of his came down from Springfield Missouri this morning for some Hybrid fishing. It took awhile to find any active fish and for most of the day we would find fish, catch a couple, then move on. We ended up with a limit of fish a couple of them would go close to six pounds. Great weather day and some good company. Saw lots of OSBA members out today. No Comments
  • Friday at Sooner

Sat, May 06, 2006 Fished with a son and dad crew Friday afternoon. Started off pretty tough as most fish we saw on the sonar had lockjaw. We marked lots of fish on all the mid lake humps but nothing doing. I decided to move to the discharge side and we went up to the bouy line and that's when we hit gold. I cleaned 10 good sized 'Brids and released a bunch more. All in all it was a good afternoon to be on the lake. No Comments
  • Fishing in the rain

Sat, May 06, 2006 It was a cold and wet morning when I met my anglers for today up at Skiatook. It took awhile for us to find any active fish but perseverance paid off. These folks were from Enid and it turns out they are avid "Noodlers". I enjoyed the day with them learning about this unique Oklahoma technique for taking big Catfish. I don't think I'm quite ready to try it but I'd like to go observe. We cleaned 10 good sized 'Brids this afternoon for a fish fry. Back up to Skiatook tomorrow.   No Comments
  • Terrific Tuesday

Tue, May 02, 2006  I fished today with Wayne Miller and a couple of the guys from Cross Timber's Development and Marina. We had a great afternoon and we caught a bunch of Hybrids. We toured around the lake for about an hour and then went and caught some more fish until dark. Today was the first trip in the new Predator. This is a very nice rig with lots more room than my red boat. If you see me on the lake give me a yell. 23' Predator with gray stripe and red "T" Top. No Comments
