  • Stormy Skiatook

Sun, Apr 30, 2006  I saw some cheap entertainment at Tall Chief this afternoon. We stayed out a little too late and got caught up in a pretty good thunderstorm at Skiatook. There were wimmen and kids running for cover and men running for the trucks and trailers. 50 MPH wind, hail and rain. It was over in about 10 minutes. We were on a good school of active feeding Hybrids before the storm, and just could not leave. These were the best sized fish we have seen this spring and there were lots of them. Give me a call and we'll go get... read more No Comments
  • Wow

Sat, Apr 29, 2006 If you stayed home this morning because the weatherman scared you, you made a big mistake. It was a perfect weather morning on Skiatook early today. It didn't rain at all until about 1 PM. My clients went through about 75 baits from 7AM to 1PM. we left them biting in the lower end of the lake. These three guys from Enid were eager to put some 'Brids in the boat and that is just what happened. We released most of them to fight again and kept enough for lunch. read more No Comments
  • Morning Bite on Skiatook

Thu, Apr 27, 2006 The morning weather was beautiful and we were in the ski pond by dawn. It was the first day I've been to Skiatook without the 10-20 mph wind. I was looking forward to pulling some planer boards in shallow water because we have been catching some good sized Hybrids in there for two weeks now. No such luck. We made three passes and picked up a couple, lost a couple, caught one good sized smallmouth and a flathead cat. I decided to go look for some more active fish and I checked three other spots that have been holding fish. Absolutely nothing... read more No Comments
  • Cool afternoon at Skiatook

Tue, Apr 25, 2006 The day after the storm was tough but I had three diehard customers who enjoyed an afternoon of cathing Hybrids. I lost count of haw many we caught since we releasing all the fish to fight another day. It was cold and windy for late April. When we found the fish it was steady catching for about three hours. Great day with good company. read more No Comments
  • Sunday Morning Shift

Sun, Apr 23, 2006 I started out Sunday morning up at Birch. I had not been there yet this year so while I had a clear day I decided to go scout it out. I arrived at dalight and was on the lake and fishing very early. An hour and a half later I was still fishing but not catching. At 8:30 I decided to pack up and go back to Skiatook to see if those big fish were still where I left them on Saturday. I went to the spot where I had left a waypoint on my GPS, threw a bouy when... read more No Comments

  • Hot Morning at Skiatook

Sat, Apr 22, 2006 It started off slow and I had two very eager clients to please this morning. We got through the first hour with only two bites a two pound Smallmouth Bass and a 51/2 lb. Channel Cat. Not exactly the kind of morning I was expecting. The south wind came up and we made a move to another spot that I knew had been holding fish, The graph blacked out with fish and bait so I threw a bouy out and dropped the hook so I could stay on top of these fish. Turns out it was a school of very... read more No Comments
  • Skiatook Morning Report

Fri, Apr 14, 2006 It's been so windy in the afternoons that we tried the morning bite this morning. Turns out that it was a good idea. The bite started as soon as we started letting out baits. We caught fish in three spots before the wind really came up, cleaned a good mess of fish, biggest was six pounds.   No Comments
  • Skiatook Report

Tue, Apr 11, 2006 Rocking and Rolling at Skiatook on Tuesday afternoon was the order of the day. I had four diehard clients and we stuck with it till sundown. I was having a blast because one of the anglers was a seven year old fisherman. I'm afraid he is probably hooked for life just like the rest of us. We didn't catch a whole lot of fish in the gale force winds that were blowing on Tuesday but we enjoyed everyone of them. All in all it was a good trip with a new client. More reports coming!! • Skiatook 4/9/2006

Sun, Apr 09, 2006 Sunday was very challenging all over Northeast Oklahoma. I talked to several guides on different lakes and the fishing was tough all over. I had three anglers and we only caught six fish. One of them tipped the scales at 7 pounds. I expect the bite to get more stable after the weather settles in a bit. I've got a trip on Tuesday afternoon and I'll post the results here.  No Comments
  • Skiatook Report

Sun, Apr 09, 2006 Tough day but we stuck with it till we got a limit of Hybrids. The water temps were down 4 degrees from earlier in the week and the north wind was howling all day. The fish were holding in 40 ft. of water. We got most of the hybrids on freelines with 1/8 oz. split shot about 18 inches above the hook. Got another trip tomorrow I'll post when I get back home.  No Comments
  • Skiatook 4/01/06

Sat, Apr 01, 2006 Saturday afternoon was beautiful at Skiatook. It was warm in the parking lot but cool out on the lake. There was a good breeze blowing out of the southwest. Water temps were in the upper 50's and it looked like it was going to be a good afternoon to be at the lake. We scouted around a bit and caught a couple of Hybrids here and there then we found a good bunch of fish and spent the rest of the afternoon there on that last spot. We ended up cleaning ten hybrids with the biggest at 5.5 lbs. read more No Comments
