The January "Party Boat" trip was sold out again. The weather conditions were absolutely ideal for a great day of fishing up on Sooner Lake. However, as luck would have it the power plant had not been generating for two days and the water temp. in the discharge canal was in the low to mid 40's. I was with my friend Dave Clark, we try to go down there every year between Christmas and new Years. The fish were between 12 and 18 pounds on this trip. We caught them on Shad, Goldfish, and big Shiners. Most fish were caught about 25 ft. behind planer boards. This is a very effective way of presenting live bait away from the boat. Today was very special. I went up to sooner with my good friend David Clark. Dave has been unemployeed for a few months and just learned he got a job offer at American Airlines in Ft. Worth. We got up to the lake about 9:30 AM and it was still pretty cold. The only thing that made it tolerable was that we immediately started catching good numbers of 2-3 lb. Hybrids. We were having a blast and enyoying the day on the lake. The water temp in the discharge was 54 degrees and we ended up with about 50 Hybrids...

It was a beautiful Fall day up on Sooner today. It was also a very good day for catching Hybrids. My clients were from Sacramento Ca. They were here visiting family in Edmond. He is a career airman in the Air Force and we were joined by his Wife and Nephew. I cleaned 20 Hybrids and we released about that many more. The bite was very steady all day today. All fish were caught in the main lake and the water temp is 58. Click on read more to see pics.
